Logan Beirne is an American writer, historian, and lawyer. His debut book, ''Blood of Tyrants: George Washington, the Forging of the Presidency'', won the 2014 William E. Colby Award. ==Early life and education== Beirne grew up in Milford, Connecticut. His parents, Sheila and Thomas (former Board of Aldermen Chairman), were interested in American history, and would often take young Beirne to history and war reenactments. He is the youngest of four siblings. On his mother's side, Beirne is a descendant of US President James Madison, the "Father of the Constitution".〔 He attended Calf Pen Meadow Elementary School, East Shore Middle School, and Joseph A. Foran High School.〔 Originally Beirne wanted to be a doctor, but when he enrolled at Fairfield University he studied finance.〔 In 2005, he graduated summa cum laude and first in his class, with a Bachelor of Science degree. Beirne was a Fulbright Scholar at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.〔〔〔 After taking the Law School Admission Test, Beirne was accepted to Harvard University, Columbia University, New York University, and Yale University.〔 He earned his law degree from Yale Law School and attended as an Olin Scholar.〔 He studied international business transactions under the direction of Amy Chua, who is known for her memoir, ''Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother''.〔 Beirne graduated in 2008.〔 He received the Edgar M.
